Workplace Description

SI-PASS (Collaborative Learning / Peer Assisted Study Sessions) is a highly successful pedagogical model developed in the USA in the 1970s and has spread to many universities worldwide, including several in Sweden.

As an SI leader at LTH, you will be employed by the LTH administration and receive your SI leader training from the European Centre for SI-PASS at Lund University. You will work closely with both teachers and those responsible for the SI program within LTH, as well as with other SI leaders, both within and outside the same subject.

Through SI leadership, you gain in-depth subject knowledge and pedagogical experience, as well as valuable professional contacts with both the faculty and other SI leaders and the student group. Experience shows that former SI leaders are highly competitive in the job market.

As an SI leader, you will also become part of a global network that includes SI programs and SI leaders in several countries (such as the USA, Australia, South Africa, Canada, the UK, and Ireland) and may be offered the opportunity to participate in international conferences and events.

Job Responsibilities

LTH is looking for 15-30 SI leaders for the courses listed below.

In addition to preparing and leading SI sessions in the relevant course, you will also:

• Market SI as a whole and your SI sessions in various ways.
• Register and report attendance after each SI session.
• Write a reflective report after each SI session.
• Schedule your own SI sessions in contact with the scheduling group and assist with SI administration.
• Collaborate with the course instructor to exchange information and facilitate planning.
• Other tasks may also occur.

A prerequisite for your employment is that you attend the SI leader training, which will be held over two full days in August. LTH will provide its training for SI leaders in international master's programs on August 24-25, 2026. The training is conducted in English. More sessions will be offered by the European Centre for SI-PASS at Lund University. You will be automatically invited to the training upon employment.

Working hours are scheduled during teaching time, i.e., Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00.

Eligibility

Eligible for employment as a teaching assistant is anyone who is admitted to education at the undergraduate or graduate level at the faculty (or related subjects for the common institutions). A degree must not have been obtained.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

• You have excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
• You are admitted to an LTH program, have good academic results, and are on track with your studies, i.e., you have at least a passing grade in all courses from previous semesters, with at most one exception. Consideration is given to re-examinations.
• You have a passing grade in one or more of the relevant SI courses, or in a course that we assess as equivalent.
• You are responsible, flexible, and willing to adapt to the needs of the student group.
• You find it easy to collaborate with others.
• You are self-driven.

Meritorious for the position are:

• You have a grade of 4 or higher in one or more of the relevant SI courses, or in a course that we assess as equivalent.
• You have recently completed and passed the relevant courses, or another course that we assess as equivalent.
• You are interested in pedagogy, group dynamics, and leadership.
• You have leadership experience (in areas such as sports, scouting, or similar).
• You have been recommended by your SI leader or a teacher.
• You have completed SI leader training at Lund University.
• You have previously worked as an SI leader.

Consideration will be given to how the applicant, through their personal qualities, experiences, and competencies, is assessed to complement and strengthen the work within the SI operations and contribute to its future development.

Other

We are looking for 15-30 teaching assistants. The employment is temporary for the relevant SI courses, where the periods are indicated under the heading "Job Responsibilities" and involves a scope of 10%.

The employment must not negatively affect the teaching assistant's studies. Regulations regarding educational employment as a teaching assistant can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), Chapter 5, Sections 8-12.
